Parking your car in Amsterdam is not as easy as renting an apartment in Amsterdam!
It is not self-evident that you can park your car in Amsterdam anywhere, on the contrary: Amsterdam has strict regulations about parking your car. As we’ve discussed already in our chapters about the neighborhoods of Amsterdam, you have to sign up for a waiting list of parking permits in Amsterdam at the city council. In the most districts, except for Oud Zuid, you'll have to wait for more than 5 years. So when you’re staying in Amsterdam for just some years and you want to use your car, it's advisable to look for an apartment with a private parking or to rent an apartment in Oud Zuid or Amstelveen. Always inform your housing agent whether or not you’re looking for an apartment in Amsterdam with or without a parking spot.
-
In some parts of Amsterdam Oud Zuid you can get a parking permit in a short period of time. In Amstelveen parking is no problem at all!
- If you want to live in Amsterdam Center or in an other district (except for Oud Zuid), ask your housing agent to look for a house with a private parking spot as well!
