Life in Amsterdam starts! The signing of your rental contract!
Together with your housing agent you’ve selected a date for the check in of your apartment. At the check in (or sometimes before the check in) you’ll sign the rental contract. The housing agents should have sent you the contract before the check in, so you can read everything through. All housing agents should be able to send you an English version of the rental contract as well. If you have any questions about the contract make sure you contact your housing agent in time. All the things you walked through with your housing agent in the check list should be in the rental contract (status of the apartment (furnished / unfurnished), rental price, deposit, term of tenancy, diplomatic clause, etc.). After signing make sure you keep the Dutch contracts safe, as the Dutch contracts are valid by Dutch law. Most landlords will have an inventory list and along with your housing agent you will check this as well as the status of the apartment. After this check in an inspection report will be made up, because when ending the rental contract the property must be returned in the same condition as when the rental contract started.
-
You should always receive an English version of the contract.
-
If you have questions about the contract or general conditions: ASK your housing agent!
- All property rented in The Netherlands should be returned in the same condition as you started renting it!
When the rental period is over, it is time to do a check out
